Addi is such a sweet child! This was on conversation on the way home from school on Wednesday:

Addi - Mom, can we make some special treats for my teachers?
Me - Yeah! Is it for something specific?
Addi - No, just because I want them to know how much I love them.
Me - Yeah, I have an idea I saw on Pintrest! We'll do them when we get home.
Logan - Addi, you don't always have to do things for others, like every day.
Addi - But I like to do things for others, it makes me feel good about myself.

This is what we came up with: smores with green frosting and faces. She also wrote each teacher a sweet note and thanking them for being her teacher. She did one to her 1st Grade teacher, 2nd Grade teacher and her teacher this year.

These were her teacher's responses (I had emailed them to let them know that these treats ARE edible!). I am such a lucky mom!

Mrs. F - Hello, Please thank Addi for me. They were so yummy! I ate them already! How is she doing? I sure do miss her.

Mrs. G - Please thank her so much. They look wonderful. I will have to look up Pintrest!!!! Thank you so much again!!!

It's amazing what makes you gitty when you're a mom! I was sooo excited when I got the email from Addison's teacher letting me know that my name was drawn as a chaperon for Addi's first field trip of her 3rd grade year!

This was the perfect field trip for me to go on with her because it was the MIM in Scottsdale! It was super interesting and a cool bonding thing for me and Addi since we're both into music. It was neat; the tour guide would take us to different countries and would teach us about the instruments that came from that country and most of them had videos so the kids could see how they were used and the different cultures of the world.

The kids' favorite section of the museum was the "EG" {Experience Gallery} where they could PLAY a lot of different instruments they had learned about.

funeral {dps pilot m. uhl}

On Tuesday, Sept. 27, Officer Uhl was laid to rest. It was an interesting funeral; definitely different than the typical Fallen Officer's funeral. Back in August, Matt and his wife were at Officer Child's funeral, in Tucson and when they left he told her that he didn't want his funeral anything like Officer Child's. The "typical" Fallen Officer's funeral is just amazing! It's a real tribute to the Officer and their contributions to the community. To each, their own.

Matt was assigned to Kingman Air Rescue and had done some pretty amazing rescues. His casket was really neat; all of his closest friends and family members took markers and wrote notes to him, on the casket! Very cool! At the Vigil, the night before the funeral, his family gathered to celebrate his life. They drank beer and wrote notes to him and placed them in the empty beer bottles, then put the bottles in his casket! Heath said the casket was insanely heavy!

At the grave site, they had his helicopter and a helicopter fly-by; it was very beautiful and spiritual to watch.

thirty day photo challenge: day two [what you wore today]

Ahhh!! I am a day behind ... kinda! This is what I wore yesterday {day two}, but I'm not posting until tonight {day three}. Today's challenge was taking an image of the clouds. It was mostly overcast today and I was in my office all day, so I wasn't able to be outside as it went from sunny - cloudy. Hopefully tomorrow, I can have more cooperation from Mother Nature.

I wore my skinny jeans from Down East Basics (that Logan picked out for me) and my new ballet slippers from Report Shoes.

thirty day photo challenge: day one [self portrait]

I love challenges and I'm so excited to really commit to a 30 day photo challenge. I found this challenge on White Peach Photography's site. I found White Peach on Pintrest {my new addiction}.

This task is a lot harder than holding your camera out in front of you and attempting to make sure you didn't cut off any of your face, until you get it right. I found good, natural light, then set up my tri pod and after adjusting the settings for about an hour, I finally snapped a photograph I was happy to edit and use as my official picture. Phew. Day one ... done!

...now onto my Sunday home duties...

12 miles and a fresh start

This morning I ran 12 miles wtih my friend, Krista! It was actually really fun! I loved getting to know her better and she's an awesome cheerleader. I'm guessing it is the personal trainer in her. :)

This week, I was also blessed with a "fresh start", in a way, to my new "after court" life! Kelsea {married to Heath's cousin} put extensions in my hair (bangs and sides). My goal is Victoria Beckham. I looove them! I'm still getting used to them and learning how to work 'em, style 'em ... but I think I can get there and have them look like Kelsea did when I walked out of the salon, on Thursday.

Our neighbor has Water Dogs and brought one over this weekend. Of course everyone was lovin' it ... but me! In fact, it "jumped" out of Logan's hands and flopped around like a dead fish and I screamed!

This past weekend, Jim & Lindsey had Skylar's second birthday party. It was a little early because Lindsey is due any day now. She was sooo darn cute with her "princess face" and stuffing the cupcake in her face, like it was the last on earth!

After pizza, presents and pinata ... we went swimming and got some much needed relaxing by the pool.

a school project and some lunch box notes

So, I pick up the munchkins from school last week and Addi says, "Mom, I have a project due tomorrow for my HEAT Reading class and since you're a photograpgher, I waited to come to your house so you can do it and I can have the best project in the class!" {HEAT Reading is the advanced reading class she attends each day}

We started on the project AS SOON AS WE GOT HOME since the sun was going down quickly and it was an overcast day.

[the project]
To depict (with some sort of images; drawing, photographs) that represent a character in the book, 'Steward Little'. The kids have a box, with a slit in the top and the images are to be glued around the box. Each student will go around and write down which character they think the images represents.

I found an awesome website with templates for lunch box notes. I tweaked 'em a little so they match the kids' personalities. They loved getting a surprise note in their lunch/daily binder. I had fun doing them, too!

I'm training for my second half marathon. This morning I went running with Davery {married to one of Heath's cousins} and a friend of hers ... and now mine! :) Had an awesome run through Gilbert and Mesa! We only intended to go 8 miles, but ended at 8.76! I love my new shoes [looove nike] and can't wait for our next long run.

Logan is FINALLY into airplanes! I'm sooo happy about this because my family has been into airplanes since I was .... well, before I was even thought about!! I was even named after an airplane ... The Jenny.

I sent a FB message out to my family, asking them to send me ANY pictures of planes that are still in the family, pictures of our family airport ... anything that has to do with our family and our heritage. I am going to take the pictures that I've been sent and blow them up on canvas', on metallic paper, LARGE ... oh I'm sooo excited!

Check out some of the pictures I have been sent so far! I don't know the story behind each image, but I am soo thankful for such an amazing and supportive family who stepped up, took time out of their busy lives and sent me some of my heritage.

TO MY FAMILY - you are all so very amazing! I can't tell you how much this means to me and I have really enjoyed seeing these awesome pictures. My memories of airshows and fly in's, all over California, growing up have such a huge place in my heart and are such a part of who I am. I couldn't be more proud of my family and who we are.

My mom loves to tell the story about growing up with a dirt runway in their "back yard" and taking the planes up with her siblings and getting "tattled" on by the neighbors. None of them were old enough to drive ... but they all knew how to fly! The top picture is of the home my grew up in with their hanger, plane and runway. It later became Highway 101 in San Jose. The picture below is of the men who built the airport. In this image, I recognize my Grandpa and Great Grandpa.

Heath and the kiddos found an awesome store at the Superstitions Springs Mall. This guy does air brush painting on tees, hats, matchbox cars, hot wheels cars ... and the kids have been begging to get a custom car. For $9.99 you can pick out a car and have it painted how you'd like ... whatever you'd like!! Logan and Addi got money for their birthdays so they decided to buy cars and have them customized! They turned out AWESOME!!!!

I can't wait to take Kaiden here on his next visit.

remodel 2011 - shrubs and flower garden

We are sooo excited to start making OUR house more US! It really hit us on Saturday that we can do whatever we want (with the HOA approval, of course)! As I was swimming with the kiddos, Heath started digging and laying bricks and before I knew it, he had built a flower garden!!!! Addi wants to plant an apple tree....

Heath's next project is the shrubs in the front yard. He's HATED them since Day One!!! He said it's the first thing to go and he was right! They definitely didn't come out as easy as he thought they would! Here's our journal of the ordeal!

Day One - me and the kiddos came home and saw a half removed shrub, a broken tow strap (second broken tow strap, mind you) and lots of dirt and rocks. Heath said he was going to win and not let the shrubs dominate the yard

Heath couldn't wait until the next day, so as soon as he got off work, it was back to shrub removal. He bought a new, stronger tow strap, too! The kids thought it was so fun to watch. The shrub was soooo in the ground that it pulled the truck back!

FINAL DAY! Got a text from Heath that he removed the remaining shrubs! The final casualty of the project is the shovel! The house looks so different! I can't wait to start landscaping!!

kidney stones + tooth extraction = tiring 48 hours

The past 48 hours have been beyond tiring!! I have been deathly sick since Saturday and wasn't able to go into work on Monday and Tuesday. I was finally reday to return to work on Wednesday, so I get up, take a shower ... and while I'm saying goodbye to Heath, he tells me how much pain he's in. After some negotiating, I was able to convince him to let me take him to the ER. I'm sure he's glad I did now (gotta love narcotics via IV)! We able to finally pass the stone around 1am on Thursday morning. He still has one waiting in the other kidney .... hopefully it won't be such a negotiation process next time. :)

Logan went into his regular denist on Monday for a filling and was told he needed an extraction because the adult tooth was on its way in and the baby tooth was infected. Apparently, Logan did not like how his dentist was working on him, so he threw a fit (I wasn't there ... I honestly can't imagine it was a bad as it was explained to me). Heath and I decided to take him to Brian for a second opinion. Brian was able to do the extraction right then and there. Logan was sooo good and super funny with the NO! Remember that youtube video of the little boy in the backseat of his car on the way home from the dentist? Logan was pretty darn funny! Brian is sooo awesome and we are so thankful for him in our family! You can check out Goodman Dental Center here.

B13 Reunion - Pinedale

Last year's B13 (Brimhall) Reunion was especially memorable for a few reasons: (1) we had all three kiddos with us, (2) it was the 50th reunion and (3) well ... Heath's family is just amazing!!!

This year, we only had Logan and Addi with us (and of course the mutt) and again, we made some pretty awesome memories. Here are just a few .... (I didn't want anyone to feel like I was the Paparazzi, constantly taking pictures, especially with so many photographers in the family)

Okay, so I have a lot of blogging to do ... but lots of pictures to post, too!! THE biggest news is the addition of Benjamin Robert Kuhn!!!!! Yay! I am an aunt. For the first time. I am so in love with this little munchkin already and can't wait to meet him in November for his blessing and Curtiss and Ginger's Sealing.

Oh my word! I can't believe it's been so darn long since my last post. A lot has happened since July 7.

We finally sent out "we moved" announcements and used a picture of us, in front of our new home, with American flags since our fave holiday is the Fourth. We had just got done moving so we were all exhausted!!! But, it's "us". Ha!

In mid-July, I did a sisters photo shoot with a co worker ... a surprise for their mom!

Myles came over for a weekend and the boys set up ALL of their Matchbox cars, on the waterfall, to "display" them for their website. Such fun! Heath had fun turning on the waterfall so all of the cars would fall into the pool. I was worried the boys would be upset {especially Logan} but they thought it was hilarious and fun to dive for the cars at the bottom of the pool.

Me and Logan went on a "date" to the skate park. Logan is getting so good and his jumps are getting more and more air each time. I am so proud of him and love going to the skate park with him {when it's not 110 degrees outside, of course} ha ha

I also worked on a project ... my first spray paint project. I looove this bright yellow!

So ... here's a crazy story ... I was looking on craigslist for some antique "stuff" for photoshoots and I came across an ad of someone selling an old treddle sewing machine. I took a peek at the ad and the machine looked just like the one I have from my aunt. It was just sitting on the side of my house with cobb webs and I just don't have the money to get it restored so I figured I'd offer this person my machine. All he had to do was come pick it up and it was all his. I wasn't sure what else to do with it and thought someone else could get some good use out of it, since it was just sitting on the side of my home. Get this ... this man {Gary} came to pick up the machine and was shocked to see this old machine; the oldest machine he's ever seen and said it was in such good shape. Guess how old this machine is....? It was made in 1888 ... yeah ... ONE HUNDRED & TWENTY THREE YEARS OLD!!!!! He was so excited to have the machine and opprotunity to restore it so I made him a deal - he restores it and lets me know when he's done, then give me the first chance to buy it back from him. He's been sending pictures of the machine, as he's restoring it and giving me some history lessons about it, too! He's a sweet old man. Here are some before pictures that I sent to him, before I had even met him. To me, this story is so touching. Like it was meant to be.

Gosh! I feel like so much more has happened ... but I guess I haven't been taking many pictures.

We are still in the middle of our court battle with Logan & Addison's dad. Our next court date is Sept. 21. We got the report back from the Custody Evaluator and her recommendation was for Jake & Ryan to move back to MN, with their father. {the evaluator was hired for Jake & Ryan's case, but me Logan and Addison were interviewed as well} Jake and Ryan's dad had court today and it took so long, they will continue in October. While reading the report, I got so angry with the lies. It was sickening the things that were said about me and who I supposedly am. I am looking forward to shooting each one of the allegations down in a few weeks.

This week we have the Brimhall Family Reunion in Show Low, then the kiddos start school on August 15. The summer went by way too fast and the temps are still over 100, so it seems so odd for school to be starting back up. Growing up in California, school always started after Labor Day.

I was reading an article on a fellow photog's blog and she referrenced an awesome foundation called Tiny Light {you can see their webiste here}. The Tiny Light "hires" photographers to volunteer some time to take photos of a family who recently found out that their lives would be changed forever and possibly have a limited time with their loved one (child). Such an amazing opprotunity so I decided that I will soon apply - yes, apply - for the opprotunity to participate in such an amazing experience.

I have also been inspired to run another 1/2 marathon. This one will be in November and it is to benefit women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I have been religiously working out over the past year (or so) and feel like I am in the best shape I have been in, in years! I set out for a short, 4 mile run, the other morning and before I knew it ... I had gone 5.10 miles and I still wasn't close to home. By the time I got back into our drive way, it was a round trip of 6.10 miles. I ended up walking the last mile. I was pretty darn tired and didn't take water, so my hands were pretty swollen. At 6am, it was already 88 degrees. Sheesh! I think I'm in pretty good shape to be ready by Nov. 6, for the 13.1 miles!!

Phew ... well ... that's an update for now. I will do better at taking pictures and documenting what we're up to and post often!

Last year we didn't make it to too many Dbacks games and when this season came around, we realized how much we missed our traditions!

On Easter, this year, my Aunt Donna brought over all of Grandpa Kuhn's old slides. I guess he was passionate about photography, too, and took pictures ALL the time. I wish he was still alive so I could chat with him about what camera and film was like 'back in the day', but he passed away when I was 9. It was so fun to see pictures of my Dad and Aunts as children and what they did for family events and how they celebrated holidays. Some of my favorite pictures were the portraits he took of my Dad. I couldn't believe how much Logan looks like my Dad. It was also fun to see my Grandpa's perspective on simply every day things; like getting a box of peaches and photographing it. It was also so fun to see Logan & Addi doing this Papa did, when he was their age like Scouts and painting.

June 15 was a crazy day! I'll spare all the details. The highlight was capturing amazing images of the kiddos, for Father's Day and the sadness was watching a neighboring home go up in flames. We saw some thick, black smoke down the street and went to check it out (yep, we are "those" people). So sad. Thankfully, the home was empty while the owners were remodeling.

My mom always comes up with the most cleaver ideas! In her Stake, she's known for making blessing dresses. She recently told me that she has gotten a little more official with her dresses and is now including a garment bag (that she also makes). Yesterday, Addi's Baptism dresses (yes, two of them for her to choose from) arrived and I was so impressed when I opened the box and saw the homemade bags, too!

Mom - you are so talented and I'm so thankful you share your talents with others (especially me) and taught me how to share my talents with others!! Addi will be sooo excited to see her dresses!

a special bond

One will start and if the other is home .. will join in. Without a doubt! I love watching these two play the piano together and the special bond they have. What's even more special to me is the special bond they have, playing the piano, is that it's the piano I have had since I was Addison's age and learned to play on. I'm so thankful my parents kept this old, out of tune piano all these years! I am speechless when it comes to my gratitude for Heath and the loving father he is.

As soon as flights are paid for, the kids ask, "How many more days til Kaiden comes?" We have learned our lesson and now wait for about a week before he arrives, before we tell Logan & Addi.

Addi was so excited to show Kaiden the 'Baby Hatch' app on my phone. You take a face picture of a girl and a face picture of a boy, then it scans eyes, nose, lips, etc to "make" a baby. They went crazy and before you know it, they were taking pictures of two different dogs to see what kind of baby they would "make"!

Kaiden's flight was almost an hour late and our plans were to leave for White Mountains as soon as he arrived. We ended up going home to finish packing, before heading out at 11:30pm. Logan got so wound up, he had to do a breathing treatment before the road trip. The kids hopped up on our bed, turned on Wizards of Waverly Place, opened some Funyons & white chocolate pretzels and hung out until Heath and I were ready to leave. Sarge was soooo happy to have all of his munchkins home!

Kara and Joey were soooo awesome to let us borrow their pop up so we wouldn't have to sleep on the ground, for the Morris Reunion, this upcoming weekend. Heath and I picked up the trailer on Monday evening and on the way home, one of the tires popped. Heath called Dispatch and asked for a unit, with a jack, to come help us. Our friend, Val, came to our rescue; luckily it was a slow night so she and I just chatted while Heath changed the tire. :)

I love that Heath stays so calm in situations like these, it makes me totally calm, too because I know he'll take care of whatever problem we have.

It is so crazy to me that some people are so afraid of Sarge. I get that he's huge and a "scarey breed" {although I don't think there is such a thing}. Sarge loves the kids sooo much and misses them like crazy when they are not home. During the day, he'll sleep by the front door and during the night, he sleeps next to my side of the bed, but lately, he's been sleeping up stairs, in the loft when the kids are home. He's getting more protective, yet still afraid of a lil dog that barks at him. Ha ha.

Last week we took the kids to Mesa's Flow Rider at Rhodes Jr. High. It was so much fun and we had some crazy first experiences there. (1) Logan lost his swim suit while body boarding and (2) Addi fell trying to surf, which shut down the entire park. Never a dull moment in our home! :)

We are so excited for Kaiden to come into town so we can take him, too! He's gonna love it!

We are so lucky to have such amazing friends who we consider more like family members. One of those families are Ry, Shan, B and the crew that goes along with them! :) Ry and Heath have been on the same squad for 3 years now. Instantly, I fell in love with his wife, Shannon and their baby to join shortly after, Brennan. This weekend, B turned 2! We had so much fun hanging out with everyone, celebrating his birthday. A few weeks ago, we were combined with another squad. We haven't had a get together yet, with the new families, but I thought we'd make a good first step. I made Memorial Day cookies for the boys. Poor Heath was embarassed that they were hearts, but I told him it was to represent "love for the red, white and blue". Ha! I guess I should have put a disclaimer with the cookies so Heath didn't have to think that the he choose the hearts.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day and that your hearts and thoughts were with those who have served our Country, those who currently serve and their families.

I can't even begin to describe how happy WE are!!! We just purchased a home!!!!!!!! We close June 30 and are already decorating in our minds!

On Saturday, we went golfing at Superstition Springs GC. I loved it! It was a super fun (and hard) course. I had never been before so we decided to take advantage of the high heat and get 1/2 off Green's Fees! It was TOTALLY worth it AND I lasted all 18 holes!! (I usually give up because of frustration around the 8th or 9th hole).

May 2 was the 38th Annual Fallen Peace Officer's Memorial at Wesly Bowlin Plaza, downtown. We missed last year because of National Police Week in Washington, DC. I had a "buy one get on free" coupon for Mojo's so I asked Heath if he'd go on a quick date with me before he started for Prescott. We met at Tempe Marketplace (he in his police car and me in the xbox). I walked over to his patrol car and he said, "there's a pursuit, it may be a while, wanna get in?" 1.5 agonizing hours later, after listening to every detail of this chase, it ended safely for the police and the suspect in custody.

Listening to the radio together and Heath's reactions to decisions that were made, it made me realize even more how important it is for him to be in a supervisory role. He's so level headed and makes such a great leader!! Once Sargent School opens back up, I'm hoping he'll go for it!!

Last night was so quiet without Heath home. I kept busy with a photo shoot of a returning family (now 1 member larger), taking Sarge to the dog park and editing pictures from two shoots.

This sweet babe (and munchkins below) belong to W & B. All kiddos have a 'P' name. I love that, but when it came time to having the boys take turns of holding Miss P, I would mix them up. :) Can't imagine what Mom must go through. Mom's sister and mother came, too and I'm glad they did! They were a huge help!

Yet another cousin of Heath's! Ha. This is T & M and their sweet daughter E! Heath & I scouted out a new location because my other secret spot was in the middle of being irrigated. For the next two weeks, Heath is working in Prescott, teaching soon-to-be driving instructors, how to be a driving instructor. This will be the longest we have been apart in our 2.5 years together. I will be visiting this weekend, but during the weeks, we won't see each other at all.

So ... I made Heath a bag for each morning he starts his day. Every bag is different; date tag, present inside and note. The only thing that is the same, is there is a photo challenge each day. Ha! Surprised? Didn't think so. :) Some days, he will be getting a history lesson and others he will be reminded of a certain characteristic that I admire about him. The gift inside is related to the note. I'm excited to hear which day was his fave!

Heath and I have been driving by yard sales and going to countless Goodwill's, looking for a "vintage" couch, love seat, chair ... something along those lines. Something old that I can haul in the back of the truck and plop down in the middle of a dirt field and have kids stand on it. I came home from picking up the kiddos, last weekend and THIS LOVELY COUCH was sitting in our living room!!! I was so touched! How cool is this??!! Not the actual couch {although I am in love with it}, but the thought! I am the luckiest gal ever!!!

Anyone remember that book? :) Our dear friends' daughter, Emma, turned 8 and is getting baptized in a few weeks. Last weekend we went to California to visit my family and when we were leaving, I noticed this old camera sitting on a table in my parents living room. It's been there for YEARS (15+). I never really cared about it. I think I picked it up a few times out of curiosity. It belonged to my Great Grandfather (you can see a little bit about him HERE). Over the past few years, as I have been practicing more with my camera, Papa's camera has become more significant to me. My obsession has also affected Heath, Kaiden and Addi! You won't see any pictures of Logan holding my camera ... he won't even touch it unless I ask super nicely ... he broke my last one and I was pretty sad. Poor guy cause he's good at taking pictures. I love seeing my family take pictures; I hope it continues to be an interest of theirs. I wish my parents took more pictures to document our childhoods. It's never to late to start a new generation of photographers!!

Dear Heath,
Tonight, I was doing dishes and mopping the floors, listening to Martina McBride on Pandora. The song, "My Baby Loves Me" came on. This song takes me back to when I was 20 and preggers with Logan! I have always hoped for a guy who accepts me for the way I am; moody, energetic, ditzy, gym kick one day/eat junk the next day, a chronic crier. ;) I didn't have that, at that time and never have ... until now! It hit me like a ton of bricks tonight; you REALLY DO love me nooo matter what and for what I am. It's been hard lately - very stressful. I have been an emotional wreck (to put it lightly) and you have put up with me through some pretty hard times, pretty low times. We have definitely had our ups and downs, but no matter what, you don't give up on me, on us, on our family we have created. I do know what I have. I am, without a doubt, THE luckiest woman in the world to have snagged such an amazing human being. I know words and words and I hope I will be able to SHOW you how much you mean to me. Addi and I made our first topiary last night. We made a square one, instead of a round one. It's different. We also learned some things so our next one is better. They are fun and I wonder after the cost of buying all the material, you could probably just buy one for the same cost, if not cheaper ... BUT ... it was fun making this project with Addi and making some mommy-daughter memories.

P.S. That is Heath's birthday present still out for display! He is sooo cute and so proud of it, he wouldn't let me put it away. :)

Getting ready for Kaiden's visit!! The boys' clothes seem to always get mixed together and then we end up having to mail Kaiden's clothes back to him when we find them later on. I thought this was a cute and clever way to fix the problem .... we'll see how it goes this weekend :)

I took some of my favorite pictures of the boys, from the same vacation, last year; added some text as to what is to go in the bin, laminated and then hot glued Velcro to the bin. Ta da!

Definitely something I need to hear regularly these days and be reminded of. This two bracelets; one from American Eagle and the other was a gift from Logan & my mom a few years ago, for Christmas. I was going through my second divorce and starting another custody battle with Mark. Turquoise is my birth stone and my mom wanted me to have a constant reminder that I am a tough girl and can handle anything, especially with everything I had been through; I just had to remember I had that inner strength to not give up.

I put this bracelet on, this morning for my comforting reminder from Mom and Logan. It helps that I have Heath and my folks and friends to help me make it through this hard time in my life.

I was so honored to be such an important part of Mike and Shelby's wedding {Mike is Heath's cousin}. The Halcomb's are amazing. They are so accepting and loving ... and fun ... and full of energy and creativity ... I can't say enough good things about this family!! As I was setting up for the big group picture, Heath's Aunt Teresa, asked how we were going to take this picture with me in it!!! Awe! I was so flattered!! I'm glad I brought the tripod so I could be in this picture, as well! After a few pictures with guests, we {Shelby's mom, the adorable couple, me and Heath} went around the Temple and took their wedding portraits. They are so fun and cute ... and up for anything! I am so thankful for Heath's help & his creativity! He's the best assistant I could have. And the hottest!! ;)

I wanted to "journal", show off ... whatever you'd like to call it ... what Heath does at work! He is always sharing stories when family asks about incidents, but it's much different when you can put stories with pictures and actually WATCH HIM in action. On President's Day, since I had the day off of work, I went on a ride along. I felt like the Paparazzi at first, but when all the guys realized what I was doing and what it was for, they were like, "Jenn, did you get a picture of this?" And show me things that I wouldn't normally be able to see. It was cool because I always go on Sunday and it's pretty darn "boring". The last day of a holiday weekend, was much different. Here's a few of my favorite stops/events ....

There was a call for debris in the roadway, on the ramp from 101 SB to 60 EB. As we were responding to the call, we ran over it. It was a HUGE sign that is on the back of Semi's saying 'Wide Load'. We tried to fit it into the back of the car so we could hang it up in the garage, but it was too big. Darn. Allan had to stop traffic on the ramp for us.

I have so much respect for our law enforcement! I love going on ride alongs with Heath and makes me realize more and more how hard he works and how lucky I am to have such an amazing human being in my life!

Today is Heath's 33rd birthday!!!!! I was so excited to surprise him with a few things, that I couldn't sleep! I got up at 1am; tossed & turned until 1:30, then hit the gym until 3. I surprised Heath with a special "card"/gift of the kiddos and his fave cupcakes {strawberry & white icing}.

Kaiden's mom was awesome! I asked her if she could send me a picture of Kaiden, holding a sign that says "dad" on it. She was so quick and gave me tons of options! Heidi - if you are reading this, thank you!!

My parents love Heath, to death!!! If he doesn't marry me, I think my family is going to ditch me and take on Heath, as their son. ;)

I took Sarge to the dog park this afternoon. He loves playing with Great Danes. In fact, when we go to Vegas, to visit Kaiden, we go to a local dog park and he loves this Great Dane, called Marmaduke. Today he found a new bud. 'Scooby' is 1yr 8mo and loved playing with Sarge, too. Scooby's owner was impressed by Sarge and his strength. Love it!! He kept tackling Scooby and not letting him up. Now, if I can just get him to stop humping!

Last year, Heath was a Guest Reader in Addi's class, reading her favorite book. This year, Heath read to Logan's class. It's always so much fun to watch Heath, in action, answering kids' questions about his job. It's funny; it's such a "normal" part of our lives, but the kids in Logan's class had millions of questions and were so thrilled to meet and talk to a cop. They kept asking Heath to taze them! He did GREAT and Logan loved that Heath was able to do this! Thanks, Heath, for being THE BEST Step-Dad, EVER!!!

We go on health kicks; going to the gym every day, morning or night, usually lasting a few weeks, then we end up taking a long break. We are {pretty} consistant in eating healthy, though. We love Bill Phillips' cookbook Eating for Life. We found another dinner we love: Greek Chicken Pitas! Tonight, we added our family favorite salad. We just made up the salad one day and loved it! Hope you enjoy it, too!!

I am beyond thankful for such awesome parents!! My parents are super active LDS and even though they haven't agreed with my decision to live with Heath {because we're not married}, they are sooo super supportive of us! They have gotten to know Heath really well and just adore him .... so they are better with our decisions, now!

Today WE got a surprise in the mail from Mom & Dad Kuhn!! It was a super sweet card and a gift card to Pier One {my FAVE home store} to make our house more of a "home".

On our way home, we stopped by The Ranch to say hi to Aunt Deb and Uncle Rob. Had to capture Logan's favorite sign on The Ranch.

Every year, the squad goes to Greer for a "guy's weekend". Heath is the Head Honcho when it comes to planning this trip, each year. This year, Heath wanted to make it a family trip. I'm so glad he did. We all had a blast! It was beyond special to watch the kids ski & snowboard! I'm so glad my child support money is going to good ski lessons, in Utah and Tahoe, for Logan and Addi. :) They paid off. Logan went down the Terrain Park {Black Diamond} and Addi was doing Blue's!

Shannon and Addi skied together and Logan hung out with me and Heath, boarding. Rob & Ryan hit the Casino. Mary, Chelsea and Kenna hung out boarding together; trying to tackle the bunny hill and Lisa stayed home with B and made us a SUPER yummy dinner.

We played two nights of "Catch Phrase". It was so much fun! Logan was hilarious at it and really good. It was fun to watch his little wheels turn - so creative! We are all so competitive; it made it so much fun and entertaining.

We have such wonderful friends. I am so thankful for them! Us girls are hopin' the boys will let us tag along next year, too!

I love a good challenge. I love winning. Which can make for some "fun" discussions in our house. Logan, Addi and Kaiden are all head strong, too.

Anyway, my friend Becky, does a photo challenge on her blog at times. I have never entered (I don't check it often enough to submit in time, or I would) but I thought it would be fun to try and catch up and participate. The most recent was "at work". I am sooo bummed I missed this one. I have THE best picture and THE hardest working man. I bet I would have won!!! No questions about it.

I am seriously thankful for my parents and all they have done for me and my sweet little family. They are so supportive and my biggest fans! No matter what I have done, they always remind me that I am a great mom and that my kiddos are lucky to be my children. Lately, it's been a huge struggle with CPS and the kids' father. Abuse & neglect. I am so heart broken and doing everything I possibly can to get my sweet babes back to my home, where they belong. Yesterday, I was having a hard day and my mom told me, "Heath has your back, Jenny. He supports you and believes in you. You have never had that before." I've NEVER had my parents feel that way about any man I've been with. I'm so thankful my parents and Heath/Kaiden get along so well and love each other like they do.

I could not ask for a better example of a true, loving relationship. My parents are best friends. My mom tells you like it is and my dad is the softy. Mom & Dad - thank you for always being there for me {even though I haven't been the easiest kid}. I hope I can be half the parent to Logan & Addi!!

MY NEW RIDE!!!! Last weekend we traded in the Blaze for a more fuel effeciant car ... and definitely WAY cuter and more me! I seriously love our new Scion! Logan & Addi actually picked it out! We had test drove a Nissan Altima Coupe and a Toyota Camery, but weren't sold on either. After test driving the Camery, Logan and Addi were checking out the Scion. Logan said, "What about this one?" Both Heath and I weren't so sure. We thought it was a teenager's type of car, but decided to test drive it anyway. WE WERE HOOKED!!!!

Logan & Addi's fave thing - the space! They love how big it is, inside. Since they spend so much time in the car, traveling, this was super important to them.

Mine and Heath's fave thing - the auxillary port/ ipod/iphone hookup so I can listen to Pandora AND talk on the phone through the stereo speakers! It's hard driving a manual, while talking on the phone! Heath loves this too, cause I can't text & drive any more. And the gas mileage comes in a close second!

We can't wait to show Kaiden his new ride, too! We think he'll love it!

I was able to take Addi on a Mommy-Daughter date to see the new Justin Bieber movie, in 3D. It was sooo much fun! She's growing up so fast and into such big girl things.

Heath bought Addi a new necklace that is sooo her style and I bought Addi a JB tee. She was thrilled!

school valentine's - check

Last year, I made the kids' Valentine's tag with their pictures {you can see them here}. Logan was interested in a girl at school and she wasn't into him, as much as he was into her, so she took his Valentine's tag, ripped it up and gave it back to him. Needless to say, by the end of the year, they were "dating". I was heart broken. He brought it home and I wanted to talk to this young lady ... but held back. ha ha

This year, I tried to really made the kids' Valentine's tags, reflect who they are. Addi is lovin' Black/White/Pink right now and Logan learned how to snowboard this year.

Although I am not a huge fan of Valentine's Day, I do love making Valentine's Day gifts for the kiddos, to take to school. The kids haven't seen them yet ... hopin' they like them as much as I do.
